Deben Archery Club History

The club was formed in the 1950s in Kesgrave, Suffolk. Initially the club was focussed on target archery, it then moved to field archery before returning to the target discipline.  (Deben Through the Years)

The club's name is taken from a local river that flows through Woodbridge. Although we are based in Suffolk the club is affiliated to the Essex County Archery Association.

For some time, club members have enjoyed considerable success at county, national and international level, with a number of our current and previous members representing Great Britain and England.

In 2013 Deben Set-up a Dedicated Junior Club (J:DAC) to act as a follow on from the archery Children were doing at local primary schools, this intialled met in a school gym but as it grew it moved to a new indoor venue in Kesgrave, which was set-up with a grant from SPARK. This Junior Club, combined with the efforts of a local Scout Troop has seen some of the children reach the heights of Junior Master Bowman and Represent thier country.

Deben Archery has a number of Coaches all the way up to the level of ArcheryGB Senior Coach, who offer club coaching and private 1-2-1 lessons at our venues.
