Success at Havering Youth Tournament

27 April 2013

Report by Stuart Ross, JDAC Competitions Officer.

The whole JDAC gangA group of 5 Juniors from JDAC & DAC entered into the Havering Youth Tournament The weather was cold and breezy but this did not stop them shooting 'National' Rounds. This was the first of their Outdoor competitions and the first ever Outdoor tournament for all and the newly formed JDAC So we are pleased to say that all 5 members walked away with an award or medal. Details and scores below:

    Short Junior National Round:
  • Harry Farthing (254, Freestyle) - Best Gold Award at 30 Yards
  • Roman Quinton (403, Freestyle) - 2nd Overall Silver Medal, 1st in Team Award Gold Medal
    Junior National Round:
  • Ben Youngman (262, Freestyle) - Best Worst White Award at 40 Yards
  • Ollie Smith (456, Barebow) - 1st Overall Gold Medal, 1st in Team Award Gold Medal
  • Ollie Vobe (602, Freestyle) - 1st Overall Gold Medal, 1st in Team Award Gold Medal,
Ollie 6 gold end

Also to note that Ollie Smith's Barebow Score of 456 would have beaten the 2nd place Freestyle Archer who got 440 points in the Junior National Round. Plus Ollie Vobe has claimed at 6 Gold End Award at 40 Yards.

Deben Juniors also won The Rick Grice Team Trophy for the top 3 Archers with a combined score of 1461 points beating Second place Noak Hill Archers (1383 points) and Third Place West Essex (1376 points). With big name Suffolk & Essex Junior Archery clubs like Mayflower, Oakfield, Rayleigh and West Essex we were not expecting to win this award or perhaps any other medals, but win they did.

JDAC archers with trophiesWell Done to the whole team and thanks to the parents for your support and help at our first outdoor competition - next one on 1st June! Now we just need somewhere to put the Cup!!

[Editor: The club would like to thank Stuart, Tony, John and Parents for making the day possible for our Archers.]
